Heed the Commandments of the Lord

http://ldsblogs.com/files/2007/11/harold-b-lee-mormon.jpg

“The only safety we have as members of this church is to … give heed to the words and commandments that the Lord shall give through His prophet. There will be some things that take patience and faith. You may not like what comes from the authority of the Church. It may contradict your [personal] views. It may contradict your social views. It may interfere with some of your social life. But if you listen to these things, as if from the mouth of the Lord Himself, with patience and faith, the promise is that ‘the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; … and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name’s glory’ (D&C 21:6).” -President Harold B. Lee-

Attributes demonstrated by the savior:
1. Humble
2. Obedient
3. Healer
4. Kind
5. Teacher
6. Courageous
7. Service
8. Submissive
9. Selfless
10. Full of Love

A Better and Happier Life

The Church stands as an example of heart turning and as a catalyst for good in the world. Among Church members who are married in the temple and who regularly attend Sunday meetings, the divorce rate is significantly less than that of the world, and families remain closer and are in more frequent communication. The health in our families is better, and we live several years longer than the population average. We contribute more financial resources and more service per capita to those in need, and we are more likely to seek higher education. I point out these things not to boast but to testify that life is better (and much happier) as hearts turn toward family and as families live in the light of the gospel of Christ.

The Perfect Mother

"There is no one perfect way to be a good mother... Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children... Some may have to work part-or full-time; some may work at home; some may divide their lives into periods of home and family and work. What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else." Elder M. Russell Ballard

Relationship Between Husbands and Wives

When God made Eve from Adam, He took her from Adam's rib. He didn't take her from Adam's head so she could rule over him or his feet so he could trample here. He took her from his side so they would be equal. (Robert C. Keys - Norman Stake President)

Stand Strong in Holy Places

   13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
   14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
   15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
   16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
   17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:13-17)

   My beloved priesthood brethren young and old, let us glorify God’s name by standing strong with our Savior, Jesus Christ. I bear my special witness that He lives and that we “are called with a holy calling” to participate in His work. “Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved.” Standing obedient and strong on the doctrine of our God, we stand in holy places, for His doctrine is sacred and will not change in the social and political winds of our day. I declare, as did the Apostle Paul, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, [behave] like men, [and] be strong. (Elder Robert D. Hales, Stand Strong in Holy Places, April 2013 General Priesthood Session)

Marriage

Here is an awesome quote I came across today, from an inspired servant of the Lord.  President Henry B. Eyring says...
